EDU-Nix Open Source Schoolware Live CD II Development Begins

Holbrook, New York, August 25, 2006 − EDU-Nix.org is pleased to announce the commencement of design for the EDU-Nix Live CD, version II.

The Version II Live CD will be based upon the Slax Live CD, departing from the original development process. The absolute brilliance of the Slax system has allowed for the development of a CD that can include vastly more Free Software for Public Schools with reduced development time and simpler collaboration.

About Slax

SLAX is fast and beautiful Linux operating system which fits on small (3.14") CD-ROM disc. It runs directly from the CD (or USB) without installing. The Live CD described here is based on the Slackware Linux distribution and uses Unification File System (also known as unionfs), allowing read-only filesystem to behave as a writable one, saving all changes to memory.
