Using KWordQuiz as a Study Aid

KWordQuiz is a Flashcard and Quiz Program

(Live CD) Start KWordQuiz from the link on the desktop, or from the Edutainment Menu under Languages.

  1. When KWordQuiz starts, it has an empty definition list. For this Lesson, we will load the SAT Vocabulary file on the CD.

  2. Click on the Open button, or go to File > Open and go into the Wordlists folder, choose the sat_prep.kvtml file.

  3. You can change the order that words in the list are used - click on Mode and choose your sort method. Then, click on Go To and choose your study method - Flashcard, Multiple Choice or Free-Form Question & Answer.
  4. In Flashcard mode, you are presented with either words or definitions (depending on the Mode you just chose) that will allow you to study and commit the lessons to memory.

  5. In Multiple Choice mode, KWordQuiz automatically generates multiple-choice quizzes that are scored on the fly and provide an interactive method of practicing vocabulary.

  6. Creating new wordlists is easy, just start KWordQuiz and begin typing. The 2 column layout is essentially Term:Definition, but KWordQuiz can be applied to more than just vocabulary study - for example, US States and Capitals (also on the CD).
