Whenever possible, we try to include native Windows versions of the software on the CD. Since space is limited, we also link to as many downloadable Free Windows Software products that we can find.

How do I install the Windows software from the Version II CD?

  1. When you insert the CD in your PC CD-ROM, the Autorun feature may start if enabled on your machine. A menu of available options will be presented, allowing you to install the software you desire.
  2. If Autorun is not enabled, you may run autorun.exe manually, or alternatively, you can also explore to the edu-nix subdirectory of the CD to launch an individual installer for a specific program.

How do I install the Windows software from the Version I CD?

  1. When you insert the CD in your PC CD-ROM, the Autorun feature may start if enabled on your machine. Currently, the Autorun defaults to installing OpenOffice.org.
  2. If Autorun does not start, or in order to install Tux Paint, Tux Type or Tux Math you can go to My Computer and right-click on the EDU-Nix Live CD. Choose the installation option from the menu.
  3. Alternatively, you can also explore to the files subdirectory of the CD to launch an individual installer.
